Hello, World!

I want to use this platform to introduce myself as I launch a website for my writing career. I apologize in advance for the limited images or flashy graphics. They're not really my style. I prefer to use words and text to express myself. Enough of the technical things. On to introductions...

My name is David Querfeld. I find it difficult to describe myself succinctly sometimes, given the variety of life experiences that I have. Above everything else, I am a Christian and a father. I spend the vast majority of my time as a stay-at-home dad to my two-year-old son. He surprises me daily with his growth, passions, and genuine joy and excitement at the world. He, along with my wife and my faith, inspire me every day to pursue love and joy, even when life doesn't seem to want to cooperate.

When it comes to writing, I prefer the epic or high fantasy genres, though I am willing to explore other fiction genres as well. A variety of sources inspire my writing. I often look to authors I have read such as Tolkien, Brandon Sanderson, Terry Brooks, Robert Jordan, and others. I also bring to mind the physical locations I have been lucky enough to live in and experience. I have lived overseas in Peru and Scotland, and currently reside in Phoenix, Arizona. Each place I've lived gives me ideas for cultural practices, linguistic variations, and depth of character for my stories. I would not write what I do and would not be who I am without those experiences.

One last thing before I end this post. I may not have had the joy of publishing any of my work yet, but I have recently finished my first novel-length draft. I am working on editing it and will hopefully be submitting to publishers within the next few months. I understand that it can be difficult to break into publishing, but, whether this novel is accepted or not, I will continue to write and pursue publishing. I believe I have stories and characters that are worth telling. I'll keep working on it until I manage to get something out there.
